Through talking with my friends about cooking and the best food recipe blogs, I have discovered some real gems to share.
While I am health conscious, I am a southern gal and my idea of a good meal usually includes butter. Butter is my favorite. I tell my teenage son “I love you more than butter,” but sometimes I wonder. 🙂
The best food recipe blogs combine modern and traditional recipes and cooking methods. For example, I do not have a gluten sensitivity, but I appreciate a blog that incorporates gluten-free recipes. I am cutting a lot of wheat out of my diet and one of my favorite cookie recipes is for gluten-free peanut butter cookies and traditionally…
I make cheesecake once a year for Christmas. The recipe I like is Eagle Brand’s Marbled New York-Style Cheesecake. It is a deliciously rich cake and for holiday baking, I do not cut calories. Sometimes I add a sour cream topping which is 2 cups of sour cream + 1/3 cup of sugar + 1tsp vanilla. (The topping is not baked. Add it on top after the cheesecake is cooled and then refrigerate.)
Also, the crust for this one is not chocolate. I prefer a traditional graham cracker crust and this recipe includes walnuts. When we have had enough, I cut into pieces, wrap them individually in wax paper and freeze them in a container. Cheesecake can be kept frozen for two to three months. Serve with a fruit sauce or chocolate syrup!
There are so many popular foodie websites. I chose these because they have great blogs and Facebook pages. I like getting and sharing recipes on Facebook. Recipes are shiny objects to me, it is hard not to share and pin a good one.
If you have thought about having your own recipe website, let these inspire you. Your personal style and talent will shine through.

Michaela Kenkel has a lovely website. I like how she blogs about her recipes without being too wordy. Her photographs are great and the recipes cards are designed well with easy to read and follow instructions. I made her Banana Cream Jelly Roll. Mine was not nearly as pretty as hers, but it was delicious. She shares often on Facebook.

Food.com was formerly known as Recipezaar. It is a user-generated recipe website. This is my go to website when I just need a recipe so I can get cooking. The layout is great. When you search for a recipe, you get a list of recipe cards to click on and view the recipe. That is it. Just the recipe with helpful reviews.
They do have a blog, but it is accessed through a separate menu. Love it. You can create an account if you want so you can add recipes to your recipe box and leave reviews. Best of all, the recipes are extremely good.

Judy Yeager is my hands down number one favorite. Her recipes are a pure comfort. She cooks just about everything southern. Bless her. This lady uses butter the way God intended and has the nerve to add bacon drippings.

One of our vacation stops this summer was Macon, Ga to visit our dear friends Pat & Leanne. Lunch was a copycat version of Longhorn Steakhouse’s Garlic Parmesan Crusted Chicken that Leanne prepared. It was just delicious.
Here is a photo of her pretty table before we made a mess of it.
