Be Wise to Make Money with Your Twitter Account
Gain quality followers. Find people with your shared interests and follow them. Many will follow you back. Quality matters and if you pay for followers, you may not get many that share your interests. Engage with others and build the right Twitter community.
Do not become a Twitter spammer. Understand your audience and that Twitter is community focused. Your Twitter account cannot become a money-making only operation. Your marketing tweets should be an extension of your Twitter activity and be as natural and creative as possible. Try mixing in some commentary, retweets, and multimedia. Do not clog up your followers Twitter feeds with hard sells, and the same tweet multiple times, and hour after hour. You will lose followers.
Do not use obscenities in your Tweets. Most people do not like it, you will not be taken seriously, and it is unprofessional. You will lose followers and advertisers will remove you from their programs.
Follow Twitter rules. Apparently there is a Twitter jail and your account can be suspended or terminated. So read their terms of use.
Follow advertiser’s guidelines. Advertisers have requirements and will not allow you to deviate from them.
Use shortened links for affiliate marketing. Most, if not all, social platforms treat full affiliate links as spam. Make certain you are following the terms of the affiliate program you are promoting for. For example, Amazon does not allow their affiliate links to be shortened or cloaked. You can tweet using the Amazon Associates Site Stripe toolbar.
Finally, while using Twitter to promote your marketing efforts and business, use a personal touch, find quality followers, respect your followers, and follow the rules. Try a program like HootSuite to manage social media and find leads on Twitter. Also, learn how to use hashtags in your tweets. Tweets with hashtags are re-tweeted more often than those without.

This was a very helpful article and really opened my eyes to the potential to make money with Twitter. I have a Twitter account, but very few followers. It something I have on my to-do list that I never seem to get to. It seems to me that properly managing a Twitter account takes time and a lot of attention.
It takes time to build any social network. It is best to focus on one or two and learn them well. Active Twitterers can do quite well. Thank you for leaving a comment! ~Gina
I never knew you could make money through social.media advertising for others. I am new too the twitter platform, but I’ve been using Facebook, pinterest and linked in for years. I find twitter a bit more challenging because of the limited character’s allowed per tweet. But I’m getting the hang of it and slowly building a following. Thanks for sharing this info on making money with twitter. I can’t wait to try it out.
I am becoming more comfortable with Twitter myself and slowly building my own following. I have found Tweeting quality makes a great difference and people like to know what ‘influencers’ are Tweeting about and sharing quotes. I have made a lot of headway by following ‘influencers’ and retweeting them. I do not have tens of thousands of followers, but many of the people that follow me do. Social media is a lot of give and take. Thank you for reading and leaving a comment! ~Gina
Oh my, it is really an eye opener for me. Didn’t know that there are so many ways to make money with Twitter. I think the only restrictions is the length of the message allowed.
The reason I prefer Twitter over Facebook is the latter is wiedling too much control. You can get your account shutdown for whatever reasons.
So Twitter is for me now.
Twitter does force us to be creative with the character limit, but I cannot imagine trying to keep up with Tweets that were much longer. I use Twitter more than FB also. You can reach more people with Tweets. I have read the average Twitter user spends about 20 minutes per visit on their account reading Tweets, so we should Tweet every 15 to 20 minutes for the best exposure. Hi Gina. These are some great programs for making money on Twitter, as well as other social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube etc.
Unfortunately, you probably need quite a bit of avid followers in order to make a decent profit with these programs. I can see celebrities being able to take advantage of this, but it’s probably quite hard for anybody else. How many followers do you think are necessary for these to be a nice source of income?
Also, are these programs listed in any particular order? Which 1 or 2 would rank at the top of your list?
Hi Matthew,
You are correct. These platforms are for the social media savvy and Twitter “influencers” will have the most success. Influencers have tens of thousands of followers that are quality followers they have gained through their marketing efforts and not through scammy pay for follower programs. Also, there are skilled Twitterers that have high quality targeted lists of followers they market to. A great website for learning how to grow on social media is http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/.
I alphabetized the list so the order does not indicate which is better or more popular. They all work a bit differently too. Having said that, Adly and Adfly are extremely popular. Adly is for influencers to market major brands like Coca-Cola and Verizon. Adfly is a link shortening service that pays when links are clicked and is probably the best to start with while building your social media following.
Thank you for your questions!
~Gina
Thanks for all of your great tips. Keep up the good work.
HOLY JESUS BLESS YOU
